Terrain-led roads
Roads bend with the hills and valleys rather than forming a grid, giving the map the irregular, flowing lines typical of upland northern Myanmar.

La carte
Lakang Map Poster & Print
Lakang is in Kachin State, the northernmost state of Myanmar, a region of forested hills, river valleys and mountain ranges that rise toward the borders with China and India. There is little detailed information about the place itself, so its map is best read on its own terms: roads, settlements and the landscape that shapes them.
In this part of Kachin State, settlements usually follow the terrain, with houses gathered along roads and valleys and fields on the flatter land nearby. On a Lakang map poster, that pattern appears as a loose network of lines and clusters. In places, forest and farmland take over from built-up ground and the map opens out.
Kachin State is known for the upper Irrawaddy, whose headwaters rise in its northern mountains, and for the jade-mining area around Hpakant. The poster sets these wider stories aside and focuses on the local shape of the place. It offers a quiet, personal view of a part of Myanmar that is rarely seen on wall maps.

Settlement clusters
Houses and small blocks gather along the main routes, forming compact clusters that stand out against the lighter surrounding countryside.
Open upland setting
Fields, forest and waterways surround the built-up area, so the outer parts of the composition stay spacious and calm, crossed by fine lines of tracks and streams.
