Laranjal do Jari Map Poster & Print
Laranjal do Jari lies in the south of Amapá, on the left bank of the Jari River, which forms the border with the state of Pará. From above, the town stretches along the riverbank. Housing is dense close to the water, and a more regular grid of streets extends inland. Across the river stands Monte Dourado, a planned company town in Pará.
Much of the older waterfront was built on stilts, with wooden houses and walkways raised above the river. This gives the shoreline an unusually fine, broken texture on a map. The town grew alongside the Jari project, a large industrial and forestry venture started across the river in the 1960s.
Upstream, the Santo Antônio waterfall is one of the region's best-known natural sights. A Laranjal do Jari map poster shows a town defined by its river. It captures the broad curve of the Jari, the crowded edge of the settlement and the forest that closes in on every side beyond the last streets.

Stilt waterfront
Along the bank, houses and walkways built on stilts create a dense, irregular edge, quite different from the grid of streets further inland.
Monte Dourado
On the opposite bank lies Monte Dourado, a planned settlement in Pará whose tidy street pattern makes an interesting counterpoint across the water.
