La carte
Lianzhou Map Poster & Print
Lianzhou lies in the far northwest of Guangdong, in a valley surrounded by forested mountains near the borders of Hunan and Guangxi. From above, the city follows the course of the Lian River, with its older districts packed along the banks and newer roads reaching into the flatter land around. Beyond the edges, the map turns quickly into hills.
Lianzhou is widely known for the Lianzhou Foto festival, an international photography festival held in the city since 2005 that has brought contemporary art to old warehouses and industrial buildings. The surrounding region also has a strong Yao ethnic presence, especially in the mountain counties nearby.
A Lianzhou map poster shows a city shaped closely by its terrain. The river, the valley floor and the mountain slopes decide where streets can go, and the result is a long, narrow city form that stands out clearly on paper.

Valley shape
Buildings fill the flat valley floor and stop at the foot of the hills. That limit gives the map a clean, elongated outline.
Mountain edges
Surrounding slopes appear as quiet, empty space on the print, framing the dense city centre and showing how enclosed the setting is.
