Limpio sits just north of Asunción in Paraguay's Central Department, close enough to the capital to share its growth yet still shaped by the lowlands around it. From above, the town reads as a modest grid of blocks that loosens into scattered streets and fields, with the broad course of the Paraguay River and its marshy margins lying to the west.
The name is usually traced to the colonial description of the area's open, clear fields, and the town dates back to the late eighteenth century. That long settlement shows in a small core around the church and square, while newer neighbourhoods stretch along the roads leading toward Asunción and the other towns of the metropolitan area.
A Limpio map poster captures that transition in a single frame: the dense lines of the centre, the thinning pattern of streets at the fringes, and the soft, irregular shapes of water and wetland.
