La carte
Long Branch Map Poster & Print
Long Branch lies on the Atlantic coast of Monmouth County, New Jersey, one of the oldest seaside resorts in the United States. In the nineteenth century it drew wealthy summer visitors and several presidents, including Ulysses S. Grant, who kept a summer home there. The Church of the Presidents recalls that period.
On a map the city is shaped by the ocean. Ocean Avenue follows the shoreline, and the street grid runs behind it in long blocks parallel to the beach, broken by cross streets heading down to the water. Pier Village sits on the waterfront, and to the north the land narrows toward Monmouth Beach and the Shrewsbury River.
A Long Branch map poster shows the classic shape of a shore town: a long straight coast, a grid lined up alongside it and denser neighbourhoods inland around the railway. In black and white, the edge of the Atlantic makes a clean, strong line against the regular pattern of streets.
