Maşīrah Map Poster & Print
Maşīrah is an island off the eastern coast of Oman, in the Arabian Sea. From above it is a long, narrow strip of arid land running roughly north to south. It is edged by beaches and rocky shoreline, with a sparse network of roads. The main settlement lies toward the northern end, facing the channel that separates the island from the mainland.
The island is known for its sea turtles. Several species nest on its beaches, and Masirah is regarded as one of the important nesting sites in the region. Ferries cross the channel from the mainland coast, and the island has long hosted an air base. Beyond the town, much of it is quiet, open desert and shore.
A Maşīrah map poster is mostly about the coastline. The island's elongated outline against the surrounding sea makes a strong, simple composition, with the town's small street pattern clustered at one end and thin roads tracing the shore. It is a spare and graphic map of a remote place.

Northern town
The main settlement clusters near the island's north end, where a compact grid of streets and the ferry landing face the channel toward the mainland.
Turtle nesting shores
Long, unbroken beaches along the coast are nesting grounds for sea turtles. On the map they appear as clean shoreline with almost no development.

Pourquoi Maşīrah
Une carte qui a du sens
The island appeals to divers, naturalists and people who have served or worked there, and to anyone who likes a map built on a single striking outline. It looks especially good in a wide format.
Title it with the island's name, a trip or a posting, and put a date in the subtitle or coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The Blueprint style works well with the sea.
