La carte
Mbalmayo Map Poster & Print
Mbalmayo lies on the Nyong River about forty kilometres south of Yaoundé, in Cameroon's Centre Region. The river is the anchor of the map, a broad, slow line crossing the forest belt, with the town gathered on its banks and a bridge carrying the main road south towards Ebolowa.
Away from the water the ground rises into gentle hills, and the streets follow them in irregular curves rather than a grid. Neighbourhoods spread along the roads, with gardens and patches of forest filling the gaps, so the built-up area has soft, uneven edges that blend into the surrounding green.
The town is known across Cameroon as a centre for forestry training, home to a national school of water and forests, and as a crossroads between the capital and the south. A Mbalmayo map poster shows the town at the scale where the river, the bridge and the hillside streets come together.

River crossing
A bridge links the two banks and carries the main road south, a single strong connection on the map between the town and the country beyond.
Hillside streets
Streets bend around the low hills in irregular curves, forming loose neighbourhoods with plenty of green between them rather than a regular pattern of blocks.
