Nazran Map Poster & Print
Nazran lies on the northern edge of the Caucasus, where the plain begins to lift toward the mountains. It is the largest city in the Republic of Ingushetia, and from above it spreads wide and fairly low: straight streets, private houses on long plots, and newer districts that have grown outward along the main roads.
The city began as a fortress in the early nineteenth century. It served as the capital of Ingushetia until the government moved to Magas, a purpose-built town nearby, in the early 2000s. Nazran is still the republic's main commercial centre, and the federal highway running along the north of the Caucasus passes close by, linking it with Vladikavkaz and Grozny.
A Nazran map poster reads as a study in open, even texture. Long residential streets run in parallel rows, broken by the heavier lines of the main roads and the curving courses of small rivers crossing the plain. With the foothills just beyond the frame, the result is quiet and orderly, a portrait of a city that grew by extending its streets outward.

Main road corridor
The highway linking the North Caucasus republics passes near the city. It is a firm line on the map, and newer commercial districts have grown along it.
Road to Magas
Roads lead south toward Magas, the republic's purpose-built capital close by, showing how the two places share the same stretch of plain.

Une carte qui a du sens
