Paithan Map Poster & Print
Paithan is a town in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, formerly Aurangabad district, on the north bank of the Godavari River. From above, the old town appears as a dense cluster of lanes near the riverbank, with ghats descending to the water. Just upstream, the Jayakwadi Dam holds back Nath Sagar, one of the largest reservoirs in the state.
Paithan has a long history. As Pratishthana, it served as a capital of the Satavahana dynasty around two thousand years ago. It is revered as the home of the saint Eknath, whose samadhi draws pilgrims, and it gives its name to the Paithani sari, a silk weave known for its peacock and lotus motifs and richly patterned borders.
A Paithan map poster frames an unusual landscape: the curve of the Godavari, the long straight line of the dam, the wide water of the reservoir and the tight old town between them. The Dnyaneshwar Udyan gardens below the dam add a green, ordered patch to the composition, a pleasing contrast with the organic lanes nearby.

Jayakwadi Dam
The dam draws a long, straight line across the landscape just upstream of town, one of the most striking man-made features in the region.
Nath Sagar reservoir
Behind the dam, the reservoir spreads into a wide, irregular sheet of water, its outline filling much of a zoomed-out frame.

Une carte qui a du sens
Paithan carries meaning for pilgrims, weavers and families from the Marathwada region alike. A map of the town, with river, dam and reservoir together, is a calm, respectful way to keep that place close in a home far away.
