Parnaíba Map Poster & Print
Parnaíba lies in the far north of Piauí, close to where the Parnaíba River splits into the channels of its delta before reaching the Atlantic. The city stands on the Igaraçu, one of the river's branches. On a map its grid of streets runs down to the water, surrounded by islands, lagoons and low coastal land.
The Parnaíba Delta, often called the Delta das Américas, is a maze of islands, dunes and mangroves shared between Piauí and Maranhão, and one of the few river deltas in the world that open directly onto the sea. In the city, the Porto das Barcas preserves old riverside warehouses from Parnaíba's years as an important trading port.
A Parnaíba map poster works well because of this setting. The orderly historic streets contrast with the branching, irregular forms of the river channels. To the north lies Piauí's Atlantic coastline, the shortest of any Brazilian coastal state, close enough to frame the composition with open water.

Porto das Barcas
This riverside quarter of old warehouses and quays recalls the city's trading past. It is a small but distinctive cluster at the water's edge.
Delta channels
North of the city, the river spreads into a network of channels and islands. At wider framings they create an intricate, branching pattern that looks almost like a drawing of veins.
