The narrow channel
A tight passage between steep hills links the harbour to the open sea. It is the most recognisable detail on the map and the reason the port has been so well sheltered.

Pasaia Map Poster & Print
Pasaia sits on the Basque coast just east of San Sebastián, around a natural harbour almost enclosed by hills. The bay opens to the Bay of Biscay only through a narrow channel. That shape has made it an important port for centuries and gives the town one of the most distinctive outlines on the Spanish coast.
The municipality is made up of several districts around the water, including San Pedro, San Juan (Pasai Donibane), Antxo and Trintxerpe. On the map, the old fishing districts appear as narrow strips of houses along the channel, while docks and industrial quays fill the inner bay. Victor Hugo lived briefly in Pasai Donibane, and in 1777 Lafayette sailed from here to join the American Revolution.
A Pasaia map poster is dominated by water. The irregular bay, the thin channel and the settlements clinging to its banks create a composition that is part coastline and part town plan, and it looks excellent in the Noir and Blueprint styles.

Waterfront districts
San Pedro and Pasai Donibane stretch along opposite sides of the channel in narrow bands, with small passenger boats crossing between them.
Inner harbour quays
Straight docks and quays line the inner bay, their angular shapes contrasting with the natural curves of the shoreline and the hills.

Pourquoi Pasaia
Une carte qui a du sens
Pasaia holds meaning for fishing families, sailors and anyone who has walked along the channel to the sea. A map of the bay is both a coastal chart and a portrait of a town, and it stands out on any wall.
Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand and personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps in Basque. Download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
