Old town grid
The historic centre around the main square forms a regular grid of blocks, the traditional Spanish colonial layout still visible at the heart of the district.

Pilar Map Poster & Print
Pilar lies northwest of Buenos Aires, at the outer edge of the metropolitan area, and its map is one of the most varied in the region. The old town, with its square and church, sits at the centre, while around it spread an unusual mix of gated communities, farmland, industrial zones and suburban grids, each with its own distinct pattern.
The Panamericana highway runs through the district, carrying traffic to and from the capital, and appears on the map as a strong diagonal line. Around it the land is filled with the curving internal streets of the countryside estates, sharply contrasting with the rigid grid of the older neighbourhoods. The Luján river winds along the northern edge.
Pilar is also home to one of the largest industrial parks in Argentina, and it gave its name to the Treaty of Pilar, signed here in 1820 between Buenos Aires and the provinces. A Pilar map poster captures a place where colonial town, modern suburbs and farmland meet in a single, graphic plan.

Gated neighbourhoods
The curving, looping streets of the countryside estates make distinctive organic shapes across the map, very different from the rigid grid of the older town.
Panamericana
The highway to Buenos Aires crosses the district as a long, strong line, organising the development on either side and linking Pilar to the capital.
