La carte
Pinetown Map Poster & Print
Pinetown lies inland from Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, part of the eThekwini metropolitan area. The terrain is hilly, and from above the street pattern follows it: roads curve along ridges and valleys, residential areas cluster on the slopes, and larger industrial zones fill the flatter ground. Streams and green belts wind between them.
The town takes its name from Sir Benjamin Pine, a nineteenth-century governor of Natal. It grew as a stop on the road from the coast into the interior, and that role continues today. The N3, the main highway from Durban to Johannesburg, runs through the area and gives it a strong connecting line.
A Pinetown map poster brings out the character of a town built on uneven ground. Its winding residential roads contrast with the straighter streets of the commercial centre and industrial areas, and the highway sweeps across the frame. Around the edges, the surrounding suburbs and green valleys give the composition depth and detail.

Ridge-top streets
Residential roads follow the hills in loops and curves, which gives the map an organic pattern that stands out against the straighter centre.
Industrial valleys
Larger industrial areas fill the flatter ground, where their big rectangular plots form a clear contrast with the dense residential neighbourhoods.

Pourquoi Pinetown
Une carte qui a du sens
Pinetown is often seen as a place between the coast and the interior, but for the people who live and work there it is a centre in its own right. A map marks that local attachment.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a suburb, a date or a family name. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
