Old town lanes
The historic centre, where Gandhi's birthplace stands, is a close network of narrow streets. It forms the densest and most intricate part of the map.

Porbandar Map Poster & Print
Porbandar lies on the coast of Saurashtra in Gujarat, facing the Arabian Sea. The town occupies a low stretch of land between the open shoreline and a creek that winds inland, so on the map it appears almost enclosed by water. The old town forms a compact core of close-set lanes, with newer districts, the port and the beachfront spreading around it.
Porbandar is best known as the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, who was born here in 1869. The house where he was born is now part of the Kirti Mandir memorial. In tradition the town is also linked with Sudama, the childhood friend of Krishna, and it has long been a port for fishing and for trade across the Arabian Sea.
A Porbandar map poster has a strong coastal outline. The sea runs along one side in a clean edge, the creek curls around the other, and the dense lanes of the old town are packed between them. The port's breakwaters and basins add sharp geometric shapes, a sign of how closely the town's life has always been tied to the water.

Creek and wetlands
A tidal creek winds along the inland side of the town, with marshy ground around it, and a wetland within the town is protected as a bird sanctuary.
Harbour and beach
The port with its breakwaters sits on the coast, while the seafront promenade traces a long, clean curve along the edge of the map.

Pourquoi Porbandar
Une carte qui a du sens
Porbandar draws visitors interested in Gandhi's life, as well as people from Saurashtra living elsewhere in India or abroad. A map of the town connects a well-known story to a real place: its lanes, its creek and its coastline.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a date that matters, and edit the coordinates line. Blueprint suits a port town, though Classic black & white, Noir, Paper and Sand are also available. Download the HD files or order a printed poster.
