Pori Map Poster & Print
Pori sits near the mouth of the Kokemäenjoki, one of Finland's largest rivers, on the coast of the Bothnian Sea. Founded in 1558, it is among the older towns in the country. Its centre follows a regular grid of blocks laid out along the southern riverbank, a plan that took shape as the town was rebuilt after fires in the nineteenth century.
West of the centre, the river breaks into a delta of channels and low islands. The best known of these, Kirjurinluoto, hosts the Pori Jazz festival each summer. Farther out lie the port of Mäntyluoto, the island village of Reposaari and the long sand beach and dunes of Yyteri, which give the wider map a complex coastline.
A Pori map poster can hold both scales at once: the ordered grid of the old centre and the branching water that carries the city to the sea. The riverside parks and bridges add rhythm to the middle of the composition. The ragged shore beyond makes the edges as interesting as the core.

Grid-plan centre
The city centre is laid out in straight, even blocks along the southern bank. This clear right-angled pattern contrasts with the curving water beside it.
Kirjurinluoto
This river island park, linked to the centre by bridges, is home to the Pori Jazz festival and appears as an open green shape in the middle of the river.
