Portishead Map Poster & Print
Portishead lies on the south shore of the Severn Estuary, a short distance west of Bristol. On a map the town is framed by water on one side and a wooded ridge on the other. Streets run along the lower ground by the shore and climb onto the slopes, while the estuary edge breaks into small headlands, including Battery Point.
The town's former dock, once used by shipping and power stations, has been redeveloped as a marina surrounded by new housing. From above it shows as an enclosed basin with a lock to the estuary and a pattern of fresh streets around it. Portishead is also known well beyond the town as the name of the Bristol band that helped define trip-hop.
A Portishead map poster brings together these different parts: the older town centre, the curving residential roads on the hill, the marina basin and the long line of the estuary coast. The Severn's broad, open water fills one side of the frame, giving the composition a clear sense of place and direction.

Battery Point
A rocky headland reaching into the estuary, where the coastline turns sharply and ships heading to and from Bristol pass close to shore.
Wooded ridge
A band of higher, tree-covered ground rises behind the town, with roads winding up its slopes in gentle curves rather than straight lines.

Pourquoi Portishead
Une carte qui a du sens
Portishead suits anyone who has walked the coast path, lived near the marina or looked across the Severn toward Wales. The estuary edge and the hill behind the town make a naturally balanced composition on the wall.
