Valley floor
The flattest ground holds the densest streets. That gives Puchuan a clear centre that follows the line of the valley rather than a square or a grid.

La carte
Puchuan Map Poster & Print
Puchuan lies in western Yunnan, in the high country south of Tengchong and not far from the border with Myanmar. The terrain sets the shape of the map. The settlement sits in a valley, and roads follow the valley floor before climbing into the hills on switchback curves. Buildings gather where the ground is flattest.
From above, the contrast is striking. The township's streets are short and tightly packed, while the landscape around it is crossed by long, looping mountain roads and streams. Farmland climbs the slopes in terraces. Even a simple line drawing picks up that layering, as contour-hugging roads pile up across the hillsides.
The wider Tengchong area is known in China for its volcanic landscape and hot springs, a legacy of the geology beneath this corner of Yunnan. A Puchuan map poster frames the town inside those mountains and captures the feeling of a place set deep within steep, green country.

Switchback roads
Roads leaving the township climb the slopes in tight loops. They trace the relief of the mountains and add strong, lively curves to the edges of the poster.
Tengchong country
Puchuan belongs to the volcanic uplands around Tengchong. Framed more widely, the map shows how its roads connect into that mountainous and well-known region of western Yunnan.

Pourquoi Puchuan
Une carte qui a du sens
A mountain town makes an unusually graphic map, with all those curves and folds reduced to fine black lines. It suits anyone with roots in western Yunnan, or a traveller who remembers the valley roads south of Tengchong.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, in Chinese characters or in pinyin. Then choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir makes the winding roads especially striking.
