Coastal plain
The land is flat and close to the Mediterranean, so roads run in long straight stretches and the shoreline gives the map a clean edge.

Qarqūzah Map Poster & Print
Qarqūzah is in the Az Zawiyah area of northwestern Libya, on the populated coastal strip between the Mediterranean and the drier land to the south. Most of the country's farms, towns and roads are concentrated along this stretch of coast, and settlements often run into one another along the main routes.
From above, the landscape reads as a patchwork: walled plots and orchards, with straight farm tracks and roads laid across level ground. Housing clusters at junctions rather than around a single historic core. The coastline is close by, and the map picks up the change from cultivated plots to sand and shore.
A Qarqūzah map poster works with that loose, low-density fabric. There is no dense old town to fill the frame, so the design relies on rhythm: the repetition of plots and the lines of the roads that tie them together. The result is spare and quite architectural, with plenty of white space.

Plot patchwork
Farm plots and enclosed gardens form a mosaic of rectangles, the main texture across much of the area on a street-level map.
Road network
A handful of main roads carry most of the traffic along the coast, with smaller tracks branching off between fields and houses.

Pourquoi Qarqūzah
Une carte qui a du sens
For families from the Zawiya region, and for Libyans living abroad, a map of a home district carries more weight than a famous skyline. This one is modest and exact, showing the place as it is rather than as a postcard.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can all be personalised, so you might add a family name or the year someone left. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand in particular echoes the coastal light and soil.
