Qillīn Map Poster & Print
Qillīn is a town in Kafr el-Sheikh governorate in the northern Nile Delta, one of the most intensively farmed landscapes on earth. On a map the built area forms a dense cluster of short, irregular streets, packed closely together in the manner of many Delta towns, and surrounded on every side by fields divided into narrow strips.
Irrigation canals run through and around the town, some straight and some gently curving, and roads often follow their banks. These waterways give the map its structure: they set the edges of neighbourhoods, guide the main routes toward neighbouring towns, and cross the field pattern in long lines. In the countryside, villages appear as small, dense islands among the plots.
Kafr el-Sheikh governorate lies between the Rosetta branch of the Nile and the northern lakes, and its towns grew with the agriculture around them. A Qillīn map poster captures this particular corner of the Delta as a clean black-and-white pattern, the tight town centre, the canal lines and the fields, without the noise of labels or traffic.

Dense town core
Streets in the centre are short, narrow and closely packed, creating a rich, detailed texture that stands out against the more open fields around it.
Field strips
Around the town, farmland is divided into long, narrow parcels, and the lines between them give the outer map an even, finely hatched appearance.

Pourquoi Qillīn
Une carte qui a du sens
Many people from the Delta live far from their home towns, in Cairo, Alexandria or abroad, and a map of Qillīn is a simple way to keep that connection visible every day on a wall at home.
