Carn Brea
The granite hill with its monument rises beside the town. On the map, its open slopes form a large pale area among the surrounding roads.

Redruth Map Poster & Print
Redruth sits in the heart of Cornwall's former mining district, close to Camborne and beneath the granite ridge of Carn Brea. The town grew in an uneven way. Streets follow the lie of the land rather than a plan, and on a map the centre looks like a compact knot of roads, with terraced rows spreading out along the routes to neighbouring villages.
The area around Redruth was among the richest copper and tin mining ground in the world, and it forms part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. The inventor William Murdoch lived in Redruth in the late eighteenth century. His house there is often cited as the first to be lit by gas.
A Redruth map poster shows the town with Carn Brea rising to the southwest and the scattered lanes and settlements of the old mining country around it. It is a portrait of a place whose shape was set by work underground, and it makes an understated piece of Cornish history.

Winding centre
The town's old streets curve and converge on the centre without a formal grid, reflecting growth that followed the terrain and the mines.
Mining landscape
Beyond the town, lanes and small settlements scatter across former mining ground. They give the edges of the poster an irregular, finely textured pattern.
