The Saar valley
The river cuts a smooth diagonal through the whole city, lined on one side by a riverside motorway, which gives the map a strong central line that every district faces.

La carte
Saarbrücken Map Poster & Print
Saarbrücken follows the Saar river as it bends through a valley close to the French border. From above, the city is a long band of streets on both banks, with a riverside motorway along the water and several bridges linking the old castle quarter on the left bank to the St. Johann district on the right.
On the left bank, the streets around Saarbrücken Castle and the Ludwigskirche form a compact baroque layout of squares and straight axes. Across the river, St. Johann has a denser, looser web of lanes around its old market square. A Saarbrücken map poster shows both halves clearly, with the pedestrian Alte Brücke as the stitch between them.
Beyond the centre, the grid thins into residential slopes, former mining settlements and large patches of forest. Saarbrücken is the capital of Saarland, a region that has changed hands between France and Germany more than once, and that shared past still shows in its food, its dialect and a pattern of cross-border daily life.

Baroque left bank
The Ludwigskirche and the castle quarter sit in an ordered pattern of squares and straight streets laid out in the eighteenth century, easy to spot among the curving roads around them.
Forested edges
Large blocks of woodland press in on the built-up area from the hills, so the street network ends in soft, irregular outlines instead of a hard ring road.

Pourquoi Saarbrücken
Une carte qui a du sens
For people who studied at Saarland University, worked near the border or grew up in the valley, the map is a quiet record of a city seen from bridge to hillside. The river line makes it instantly recognisable even without a label.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark a move, a graduation or a family address, then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
