Basin grid
Residential blocks form a regular pattern across the flat floor of the basin. This dense, even texture is the core of the poster.

Saḩar Map Poster & Print
Saḩar lies on the eastern side of the Sanaa area, in the high basin where Yemen's capital spreads out at around 2,200 metres. On the map the location sits where the city's grid starts to break up against rising terrain: dense residential blocks on one side, and the mountains that close the basin on the other.
The streets are mostly laid out as a practical grid, with main roads carrying traffic toward the city centre and outward to the highland towns. Dry watercourses, which fill only after rains, cut shallow lines across the plan. Beyond the built-up edge, the map gives way to terraced slopes and bare ridges, which show as tight, rippling line work.
A Saḩar map poster is a picture of Sanaa's edge. It captures the meeting of an old highland capital and the mountains that have always framed it. For people who lived here, it is a concrete image of a neighbourhood many have had to leave, set down with care and without drama.

Eastern heights
Rising ground borders the district on the east. Where the streets end, the map shifts into the irregular lines of slopes and ridges.
Seasonal wadis
Dry channels cross the plain between neighbourhoods. On the map they appear as faint, winding strokes that interrupt the grid.

Pourquoi Saḩar
