Town centre
The core of Santa Helena is its densest area, a compact pattern of streets and blocks that forms the clearest and most detailed part of the poster.

Santa Helena Map Poster & Print
Santa Helena is a town in the north of Maranhão, in low-lying country not far inland from the Atlantic coast. On the map it appears as a modest cluster of streets around a central area, and the urban edge quickly gives way to open land. Water is never far away in this region, and rivers and wet ground shape the countryside around the town.
Like many towns in the interior of Maranhão, Santa Helena is a local centre for the farms and small communities around it. Roads and tracks connect them across the flat terrain. The year here follows the rainy and dry seasons, which change the look of the surrounding land considerably.
A Santa Helena map poster presents a simple, honest town plan, with compact blocks in the centre, looser streets toward the edges and a landscape of water and open land around it. For people from the town now living in São Luís, in other states or abroad, it is a direct and personal reminder of home.

Rivers and wetland
The flat, water-rich land of northern Maranhão surrounds the town. Watercourses and damp ground add soft, irregular shapes around the edges of the map.
Roads to the interior
Roads and tracks leave the town in several directions, linking it with rural communities and neighbouring towns across the low, open country of the region.
