Dense old centre
The heart of town is a tight mesh of narrow, irregular lanes, typical of long-settled Rajasthani towns and striking when drawn in fine black lines.

Sawar Map Poster & Print
Sawar is a small town in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan, set on the semi-arid plains of the state's interior. From above, the town forms a compact knot of lanes and buildings, dense at the centre and thinning toward the edges. Roads radiate outward to neighbouring villages, crossing a patchwork of fields that change colour through the year on the ground but read as fine lines on the map.
As in many older Rajasthani towns, the centre is a tangle of narrow, irregular streets rather than a planned grid, the kind of pattern that grows over centuries of building and rebuilding. Water tanks and seasonal ponds, important in this dry region, appear as small shapes near the settlement, and low rocky hills break up the plain in places.
A Sawar map poster is a quiet portrait of a place most maps pass over. It shows the essential structure of a rural Rajasthani town: a dense core, radiating roads and the wide agricultural land that sustains it. For anyone with family roots here, it is a way to keep home close, rendered with care in simple black and white.

Radiating roads
Routes leave the centre in several directions toward surrounding villages, giving the map a clear star-like structure against the open plain.
Fields and tanks
Farmland surrounds the town, interrupted by water tanks and ponds that matter greatly in this dry region and appear as small, distinct shapes.

Pourquoi Sawar
Une carte qui a du sens
Many people hang a map of a small town because it is where their family comes from, even if they now live far away. Sawar's map offers a real, readable picture of that home.
Set your own title and subtitle, perhaps a family name or a year, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to match the room and the mood.
