Scranton Map Poster & Print
Scranton follows the Lackawanna River through a valley in northeastern Pennsylvania. From above, the city is long and narrow. Its street grids shift direction from one neighbourhood to the next, following the valley floor, and wooded ridges rise to the east and west.
The city grew on anthracite coal and iron. It was one of the first American cities to run electric streetcars and adopted the name The Electric City. Rail yards along the river are now home to Steamtown National Historic Site, and the downtown grid gathers around Courthouse Square.
A Scranton map poster shows a city shaped by its valley, with the river in the middle and the ridges holding it on either side. Scranton is also known as the birthplace of President Joe Biden and as the setting of the television series The Office.

Courthouse Square
A single green block in the centre of downtown anchors a tight grid of commercial streets. It is the clearest centre point on the map.
Valley ridges
Long wooded ridges run parallel on each side of the valley. The streets climb partway up them before the forest takes over.
