Senftenberg Map Poster & Print
Senftenberg lies in Lower Lusatia in southern Brandenburg, on the Black Elster river. On a map the old town appears as a compact knot of streets around a market square, with the bastioned outline of its fortress just beside it. Beyond the centre, residential districts and former industrial areas spread outward, and to the south a large lake fills much of the frame.
That lake tells the story of the region. For decades Lusatia was shaped by open-cast lignite mining, and when a pit near Senftenberg closed it was flooded to create Lake Senftenberg, now a popular recreation area. It was one of the first of the many artificial lakes that together form the Lusatian Lakeland, a landscape still being reshaped today.
A Senftenberg map poster captures that transformation in a single image. The old town and fortress represent the long history of the place, while the smooth, broad lake shape recalls the industrial era and its aftermath. In black and white the contrast between dense streets and open water becomes especially striking and easy to read.

Fortress outline
The historic fortress beside the old town keeps its angular bastioned footprint, one of the most distinctive geometric shapes in the centre of the map.
Black Elster
The river runs through Senftenberg in a gentle course, separating parts of the town and linking it to the wider network of waterways in Lusatia.

Pourquoi Senftenberg
Une carte qui a du sens
Senftenberg means different things to different people: a mining past, a lakeside summer, a childhood in Lusatia. A map of the town and its lake holds all of these at once, and makes a thoughtful gift for former residents.
The title, subtitle and coordinates are fully editable, so you can add a street, a year or a personal note. Choose from five styles, including Blueprint and Sand, and download $9 HD files or order a printed poster shipped from a nearby partner.
