Sorel-Tracy Map Poster & Print
Sorel-Tracy stands where the Richelieu River flows into the St. Lawrence, on the south shore between Montreal and Trois-Rivières. Water organises the whole map. The old Sorel grid fills the point of land beside the river mouth, Tracy extends along the opposite bank of the Richelieu, and the wide St. Lawrence runs past to the north with its shipping channel.
Sorel was founded in 1642 as a fort guarding the Richelieu and is one of the oldest towns in Quebec. It merged with Tracy in 2000. Downstream lie the Sorel Islands, a maze of low islands and channels at the head of Lac Saint-Pierre, which is a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
A Sorel-Tracy map poster frames the town between the rivers and the islands. The regular streets of the old centre, the long industrial waterfront and the broken shapes of the archipelago make an especially strong print in Noir or Blueprint, where the water becomes the main feature of the design.

Sorel Islands
Downstream, dozens of low islands and winding channels are scattered across the river, creating an intricate pattern of land and water in a wider frame.
Old Sorel grid
The historic centre follows a regular grid of streets around the Carré Royal park, on the point of land beside the mouth of the Richelieu.
