Sparks Map Poster & Print
Sparks sits directly east of Reno in the Truckee Meadows, the valley floor of northern Nevada. On a map the two cities merge, but Sparks has its own shape: a long band of streets north of the Truckee River, a large rail yard running east to west, and Interstate 80 slicing across the middle of town.
The city was founded in the early 1900s when the Southern Pacific railroad moved its maintenance shops here, and it was named after Nevada governor John Sparks. Its downtown, around Victorian Square, still sits close to the tracks. To the east, the Sparks Marina fills a former gravel pit, forming a neat lake surrounded by homes and paths.
Northward, newer subdivisions climb toward the hills in curving streets and cul-de-sacs, a different texture from the older blocks near the tracks. A Sparks map poster brings these pieces together, from the straight lines of rail and highway to the rounded outline of the marina and the loops of suburban streets at the edges of the valley.

Truckee River
The river flows along the southern side of Sparks on its way from Lake Tahoe toward Pyramid Lake, tracing a gentle line beside parks and industrial areas.
