Staveley Map Poster & Print
Staveley sits in north-east Derbyshire, a few miles north-east of Chesterfield, in the valley of the River Rother. For much of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries it was shaped by coal mining and ironworking, and the scale of that industry still shows in the broad open areas and old rail lines that surround the town.
The Chesterfield Canal passes through Staveley, and its restoration has become a long-running local project, with a new town basin reopening the waterway to boats. On a map, the canal and river trace parallel lines through the valley, joined by roads and former railway routes that once served the works.
A Staveley map poster reads as a portrait of a working town in transition. Terraced streets cluster near the centre, newer housing extends outward, and the valley floor holds the long, clean curves of water and old transport corridors. The composition has a quiet industrial rhythm that suits black and white well.

River Rother valley
The Rother winds along the low ground near the town, giving the map a natural curve among the straighter lines of roads and former railways.
Industrial footprint
Large open areas and old rail alignments mark where mining and ironworks once stood, creating broad, spacious shapes around the more closely built streets.
