Świdwin sits in the lowland of West Pomerania, where the Rega river winds through a landscape of farmland, woods and small lakes. From above, the town reads as a tight historic nucleus on the water, with newer residential blocks and detached houses spreading outward along the main roads. The river gives the drawing its one continuous curve, and everything else seems to settle around it.
The oldest landmark is the castle, a brick fortress associated with the medieval military orders that once held this part of Pomerania, standing close to the river.
