Szarvas Map Poster & Print
Szarvas lies in Békés County on the Hungarian Great Plain, a land of wide horizons and slow rivers. Its most striking map feature is the Holt-Körös, a dead arm of the Körös River left behind when the main channel was straightened. The oxbow bends in wide loops around and through the town, giving an otherwise flat landscape a strong, meandering line.
The town has a regular, spacious street grid typical of the Great Plain, with long straight streets and generous blocks. Along the Holt-Körös lies the Szarvas Arboretum, one of Hungary’s best-known botanical collections. Szarvas also claims to stand at the geographical centre of historical Hungary, and was home to Sámuel Tessedik, a pioneer of agricultural education.
A Szarvas map poster contrasts the calm order of the streets with the curving water around them. In black and white, the oxbow reads almost like a drawn ribbon laid over the grid. It is an elegant composition, and a fitting piece for anyone who studied, grew up or spent summers along the water here.

Arboretum by the water
The Szarvas Arboretum sits along the oxbow, its paths and plantings showing as a green, softly patterned area beside the river bend.
Great Plain grid
Long, straight streets and wide blocks give the town the open, orderly structure typical of settlements on the Hungarian Great Plain.

Pourquoi Szarvas
Une carte qui a du sens
Szarvas has long been a town of students and teachers, and many people carry memories of its riverbanks after moving on. A map of its oxbow and streets is a calm, graphic reminder of those years.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a graduation year or a family name, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9 or order a printed, optionally framed poster.
