Paranhana river
The river winds past the town, giving the poster a flowing line that contrasts with the straight streets. It also forms a natural edge for the town.

Taquara Map Poster & Print
Taquara lies in Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil, where the lowlands around Porto Alegre begin to rise toward the Serra Gaúcha. The town sits in the valley of the Paranhana river. The map shows a clear grid of streets on level ground, with hills closing in to the north and the river marking one side of the town.
The centre is laid out in regular blocks, and the outer neighbourhoods follow roads that lead toward the mountain towns and the metropolitan region. Wooded slopes and farmland surround the town, and small streams coming down from the hills break up the grid in places, adding curves to its otherwise straight lines.
The area was settled in the nineteenth century largely by German immigrants, a heritage still visible in family names and local traditions across the Paranhana valley. A Taquara map poster keeps the town's balance of order and landscape: the gridded centre, the river line, and the green edges where the valley meets the serra.

Grid centre
The main blocks form an orderly chequerboard on flat ground. At poster scale this pattern becomes the densest, most defined part of the design.
Toward the serra
North of town the land rises toward the highlands, and roads begin to curve with the slopes. The map loosens here into lighter lines and open space.

Pourquoi Taquara
Une carte qui a du sens
Taquara suits people from the Paranhana valley, families with German-Brazilian roots, and anyone who knows the road up to the serra. It is a map of a working town rather than a tourist centre, which gives it a grounded, personal feel.
