Lohit River
Near the town the river spreads across a wide bed of channels and sandbanks. On a black and white print this braided pattern looks almost hand-drawn.

Tezu Map Poster & Print
Tezu is the headquarters of Lohit district in the far east of Arunachal Pradesh. It lies on a broad, level stretch of land near the Lohit River, with the Mishmi Hills rising sharply to the north and east. On a map the town is a spread of streets and compounds on flat ground. Around it are the braided channels of the river and the steep, empty hills.
The Mishmi people live in the surrounding region. Across India the district is known for Parshuram Kund, a pilgrimage site on the Lohit that draws large crowds around Makar Sankranti each January. Tezu also has a small airport, whose runway appears on the map as a long straight line across the town's otherwise loose street pattern.
A Tezu map poster brings together three distinct textures: the open plan of the town, the wide, shifting forms of the river and the dense folds of the hills. It is an unusual subject for a wall print. That is part of its appeal for anyone connected to this remote corner of northeast India.

Airstrip line
The runway of Tezu's airport forms a long, straight stroke through the landscape. It contrasts with the irregular streets and the curving watercourses around it.
Mishmi foothills
Hills rise abruptly at the edge of the plain. There the roads thin out and the map becomes mostly empty, which gives the town a strong sense of setting.

Pourquoi Tezu
Une carte qui a du sens
Some people grew up in Lohit district, others served there or travelled to Parshuram Kund. For all of them this map holds a place that is hard to reach and easy to miss on standard maps, and the print gives it the attention it deserves.
You can set your own title and subtitle, perhaps with a year, a posting or a family name, and edit the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as HD files for $9 or as a printed poster.
