Waterfront edge
The shoreline facing Ap Lei Chau is straight and clearly engineered. It forms a crisp boundary between the channel and the dense built-up area.

La carte
Tin Wan Map Poster & Print
Tin Wan is on the southern side of Hong Kong Island, next to Aberdeen and facing the channel toward Ap Lei Chau. The area is squeezed between the waterfront and steep hillside, so development is packed onto a narrow shelf of level ground. From above, a band of tall residential blocks lines the coast, with wooded slopes rising steeply behind.
As in much of Hong Kong, the map here is shaped by terrain and reclaimed land. The shoreline is mostly straight and engineered, with roads following it. Behind them, estate buildings fill the available space, and a few roads zigzag uphill. Past that, the hillside is almost entirely open on the map.
A Tin Wan map poster shows how tightly the city fits against the water and the hills. On one side is the channel, then the coastal road and estates, and above them the empty slope. The contrast between the dense shore and the open hillside makes a striking composition.

Estate blocks
Housing estates fill the narrow level ground. On the map they appear as closely set building footprints, a familiar pattern in Hong Kong.
Steep hillside
Wooded slopes rise sharply behind the estates. They leave a large open area on the poster, broken only by a few winding roads.

Pourquoi Tin Wan
Une carte qui a du sens
Many people grew up in estates like those in Tin Wan, and their layout carries strong memories. The map is also for anyone who has moved away from Hong Kong and wants to keep the southern shore and the hills in view.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, including traditional Chinese characters. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir looks especially good with the dark water and the lit density of the estates.
