Troisdorf lies in the Rhein-Sieg district, just northeast of Bonn and southeast of Cologne. Its map is framed by water and open land: the Sieg runs along the south, the Agger joins it from the east, and to the north the Wahner Heide, a large heath and forest area, leaves a wide empty space. The town fills the ground between them.
The street pattern is a mix of older village cores that grew together and postwar residential areas, with railway lines cutting through on the way between Cologne and the Sieg valley. Industrial land, tied to the town's long history in manufacturing, occupies larger blocks. Cologne Bonn Airport sits close by, its runways visible at the edge of wider maps.
