La carte
Ulliyeri Map Poster & Print
Ulliyeri lies in Kozhikode district in northern Kerala, a short way inland from the Malabar coast. Like many Kerala towns, it has no single dense core. From above, houses and small clusters of shops line the roads, and the spaces between are filled with coconut palms, gardens and low fields. The road pattern is loose and branching, following the gentle rise and fall of the land.
This settlement pattern is typical of the region: villages and towns run into one another, and homesteads sit on their own plots among the greenery rather than in tight rows. A local junction serves as the everyday centre, with roads running out toward Kozhikode and neighbouring towns. It is a landscape shaped as much by water and vegetation as by building.
An Ulliyeri map poster shows this as a soft, organic web of lines. Winding roads and small lanes branch and rejoin across the frame, with no rigid grid anywhere. The result is a gentle, open design that reflects the green, spread-out character of Kerala's countryside.

Dispersed homesteads
Houses sit on individual plots rather than in dense blocks. On the map that gives an even, open pattern across the whole area.
Low-lying fields
Flatter ground between the roads holds fields and water. It appears as open space that breaks up the network of lanes.
