Archipelago Sea
Countless islands and skerries fill the frame. Their ragged shorelines make one of the most detailed coastal patterns a map poster can show.

Väståboland Map Poster & Print
Väståboland, known in Finnish as Länsi-Turunmaa, was the name used from 2009 to 2011 for the municipality created when Pargas, Nagu, Korpo, Houtskär and Iniö merged. In 2012 it was renamed Pargas. On a map it covers a large part of the Archipelago Sea, southwest of Turku, and it is one of the most fragmented coastlines in Europe.
The map shows more water than land. Islands of every size, from sizeable wooded ones to bare skerries, sit in winding channels. Roads cross from island to island on bridges and causeways, and farther out the connections continue by ferry. Pargas town, on the main island, has the densest street network, next to the large limestone quarry that has been worked there for centuries.
A Väståboland map poster turns this intricate coastline into a composition of fine lines and open water. The area is bilingual, with a Swedish-speaking majority, and its summer cottages, sailing routes and the Archipelago Trail draw visitors from across Finland. In black and white, the edges of hundreds of islands produce a pattern that looks almost like lace.

Pargas limestone quarry
The large open-pit quarry next to Pargas town is an unusual, sharp-edged shape that stands out from the soft island outlines.
Bridges and ferry links
Road connections hop between islands across short bridges and sounds, stitching the scattered land together into one municipality.

Pourquoi Väståboland
Une carte qui a du sens
Summer houses, sailing trips and family roots bring many people back to these islands year after year. A map of the archipelago keeps that coastline visible through the winter and suits a cabin, a study or a city flat equally well.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps the name of an island or a summer. Five styles are available, with Blueprint and Sand working especially well for maritime subjects. Digital files cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in over 30 countries.
