Vega Baja Map Poster & Print
Vega Baja lies on the north coast of Puerto Rico, west of San Juan, on the flat coastal plain between the karst hills and the Atlantic. The town centre sits a few kilometres inland around its plaza and church, with a grid of streets extending from it. Between the town and the sea, the land is low and green, with wetlands, farmland and a long line of beaches.
The largest natural shape in the municipality is Laguna Tortuguero, a freshwater lagoon behind the dunes protected as a natural reserve. The Cibuco River winds across the plain to the sea, and along the shore, beaches such as Puerto Nuevo are sheltered by reefs and rocky outcrops. Inland to the south, the land rises into the karst hills typical of northern Puerto Rico.
A Vega Baja map poster works best with the town and the coast in the same frame. The plaza and its grid sit in the lower part, the plain opens between them and the sea, and the lagoon and river add soft, irregular shapes near the shoreline. The Atlantic closes the top of the map with a clean, broken line of coves and points.

Laguna Tortuguero
This large lagoon lies just behind the coast, a broad, irregular body of water surrounded by wetland and protected land, one of the most distinctive shapes on the map.
Atlantic shoreline
The coast runs as a chain of small beaches, reefs and rocky points, giving the northern edge of the map a varied, broken outline.

Pourquoi Vega Baja
Une carte qui a du sens
Vega Baja maps are often bought by families of the Puerto Rican diaspora, a way to keep the town plaza, the road to the beach and the familiar streets close from New York, Florida or further afield.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed, so you can add a barrio, a family name or a date. Choose one of five styles and download six sizes as PNG and PDF, or order a matte print with a wooden frame.
