The Agno River
The river loops across the plain near the town, its wide channel and sandbars drawing the most organic line on the map against the flat farmland.

Villasis Map Poster & Print
Villasis sits on the broad, level plain of central Luzon, in the southeastern part of Pangasinan. The land is almost perfectly flat, so the map is shaped mainly by water and roads. The Agno River, one of the major rivers of northern Luzon, winds past the town, and the main highway running north and south draws a straight spine through the built-up area.
The town centre is compact: a town hall, a church and a market close together, with houses spreading along the roads that lead out to the barangays. Beyond that, the pattern dissolves into the geometry of rice paddies and irrigation channels, which cover much of the surrounding countryside and change colour with the planting seasons.
A Villasis map poster shows how a Philippine provincial town is actually put together. The river's curves and the highway's straight line meet the fine grid of the poblacion, and farm tracks fade out into the fields. In black and white, the contrast between the meandering river and the man-made lines is the first thing you notice.

Highway spine

Poblacion grid
The town centre is a small, regular grid of streets around the civic and church buildings, surrounded by much looser rural settlement.
