Freeways shape its edges. The Harbor Freeway, Interstate 110, runs along the east side on its way to San Pedro and the port, and the San Diego Freeway, Interstate 405, passes close by to the north. Harbor–UCLA Medical Center, one of the county's major public hospitals and a regional trauma centre, stands within the community.
