La carte
Woerden Map Poster & Print
Woerden, in the west of Utrecht province, grew up where the Oude Rijn crosses the low peat meadows of the Green Heart. The old town still shows its origins as a fortress. A moat with angled bastions surrounds the centre, giving it a star-like outline that stands out clearly against the newer neighbourhoods around it.
Inside the walls, the streets follow the river and the old canal, with narrow lanes leading to the church and market. The castle stands at one corner of the fortifications. Beyond the moat, the map changes: straight polder ditches, long rectangular fields and planned residential districts reach out toward the railway and the motorway.
Woerden was part of the Old Dutch Waterline, and for centuries it was known as a cheese market town for the surrounding dairy farms. A Woerden map poster brings together the fortress, the river and the polder landscape in one clear, carefully balanced composition.

Oude Rijn
The old branch of the Rhine runs through and past the centre, linking the town to the wider network of waterways across the Green Heart.
Polder patterns
Around the town, long parallel ditches divide the land into narrow strips, creating the fine, rhythmic lines typical of the Dutch peat meadows.
