Streets and terrain
Roads curve along valleys and around hills instead of running in straight lines. This gives the map a loose, flowing pattern typical of the Sichuan hills.

La carte
Xuantan Map Poster & Print
Xuantan lies in southern Sichuan, in the hilly landscape of the Sichuan Basin. The land here is rarely flat for long: low hills, small valleys and waterways shape where roads and buildings can go. From above, the town looks like a cluster of streets set into the gaps between slopes, with farmland terraced across the surrounding hills.
Like many towns in this part of China, Xuantan grew up as a local centre for trade and farming. In recent decades, newer housing and wider roads have been added around the older core. Water plays a large part in the landscape, with rivers and ponds scattered among the fields.
A Xuantan map poster turns this uneven ground into an unusual, organic pattern. The streets do not form a clean grid; they bend and branch to follow the land. Blank space around the town stands for the hills and fields, so the image feels spacious and a little irregular.

Water in the fields
Rivers, streams and small ponds appear throughout the countryside around the town, breaking up the fields with small, irregular patches of water.
Old core, new edges
A tighter cluster of older streets sits at the centre, while newer blocks with wider roads spread out around it. The difference is easy to see from above.
