The escarpment edge
The town sits along the rim of the Nafusa plateau, and the sharp drop toward the Jafara plain divides the map into built high ground and open lowland.

Yafran Map Poster & Print
Yafran sits in the Nafusa Mountains of north-western Libya, on the edge of the escarpment that separates the high plateau from the Jafara plain below. On the map, the town is spread across the plateau rim, and the land drops sharply to the north. Roads climb up from the plain in winding curves, while on the upland they run more directly between towns.
It is one of the historic Amazigh towns of the Nafusa Mountains, with a long tradition of settlement on these heights. The old town on a hilltop, with its stone houses and a former synagogue, reflects the area's layered past, while newer districts have grown out across the plateau. Olive groves and terraced plots mark the surrounding land.
A Yafran map poster captures a town shaped by an edge: settlement on the high ground, switchback roads down the slope, and open land beyond. It speaks to people with roots in the Nafusa Mountains and to anyone interested in the mountain towns of North Africa.

Winding approach roads
Roads climbing from the plain bend in tight curves up the slope, drawing distinctive switchback patterns that contrast with the straighter roads on the plateau.
Old hilltop quarter
The historic core on a hilltop forms a small, irregular cluster of lanes, distinct from the more open newer districts spreading across the upland.
