Zaragoza is a municipality in the Sierra Norte of Puebla, in the mountainous northeast of the state. It is not to be confused with the city in Spain or the Puebla battle. The terrain here is steep and green, and the town fits itself to the slopes. On the map, a central grid around the plaza gives way to curving streets that follow ridges and dips in the land.
The Sierra Norte is known for its cool, damp climate and dense vegetation. Roads connecting Zaragoza with neighbouring towns wind through the hills rather than taking direct routes. Around the edges of the town, houses thin out into scattered plots and small fields on sloping ground.
