Meeting of rivers
The Jialu joins the Shaying inside the city. The confluence is the natural centre of the composition, with water branching across the sheet and districts filling the angles between the channels.

Zhoukou Map Poster & Print
From above, Zhoukou is defined by water on an otherwise level plain. The Shaying River runs through the city, and the Jialu River joins it here, so the urban area falls into distinct districts on either bank. Bridges stitch these parts together, and the street pattern shifts slightly from one bank to the next as each district follows its own stretch of shoreline.
The land around Zhoukou belongs to the broad Huang-Huai plain of eastern Henan, some of the most intensively farmed country in China. Past the edge of the built-up area, the map turns into a fine mesh of field roads, canals and village clusters. That makes the city's outline unusually clear: a dense core with river bends through the middle, surrounded by an even agricultural grid.
The wider prefecture includes Huaiyang, which is traditionally linked to Fuxi, one of the legendary founders of Chinese civilisation. The city itself grew up as a river port, and trade along the Shaying shaped its early layout. A Zhoukou map poster shows that heritage simply: a meeting of rivers and the streets that grew up around the landing places.

River-bank districts
Because the rivers split the city, each district has its own compact grid. Bridges show up as short, deliberate links between neighbourhoods that otherwise face each other across open water.
Plain all around
Outside the core, the Henan plain spreads out as a pale lattice of farm tracks and small settlements. Its evenness gives the urban centre a crisp edge.

Pourquoi Zhoukou
Une carte qui a du sens
For people from eastern Henan, Zhoukou means home, the river and the plain. A print of its confluence carries that sense of place without any need for words or photographs, and it fits easily into a study or hallway.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a family name or a year, and the coordinates line. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
