Nafusa plateau
The town sits on high ground above the escarpment that drops toward the coastal plain. Even the street layout reflects that elevated, open setting.

Zintan Map Poster & Print
Zintan sits high in the Nafusa Mountains of north-western Libya, on the plateau above the coastal plain that stretches toward Tripoli. The land around it is arid and open, and the map reflects that. Streets fan out loosely across the upland. Low-density blocks are separated by empty ground, and the edges of the town dissolve into desert rather than stopping at a clear boundary.
The town became widely known in 2011, when its fighters played a prominent role in the Libyan uprising. Outside Libya, it has been associated with that period ever since. Before and after those events, Zintan has been a highland market town for the surrounding tribal and farming communities, and the roads leading out of it follow the lie of the plateau.
A Zintan map poster makes a spare, open composition. Scattered street networks meet broad white space, and roads extend toward the escarpment and the settlements beyond. It suits anyone who knows the Nafusa uplands, or anyone drawn to maps where land and emptiness count as much as the buildings.

Loose street network
Instead of a tight grid, Zintan's roads spread in irregular clusters with open plots between them. This gives the map an airy, fragmented pattern.
Roads across the upland
Long routes leave town across the plateau toward neighbouring mountain settlements. They draw thin lines into the surrounding blankness.

Pourquoi Zintan
Une carte qui a du sens
For families from Zintan, many of whom live elsewhere in Libya or abroad, the map offers a calm, apolitical picture of home: the streets and the high ground, nothing more.
Add a title in your own words, a subtitle and the coordinates line, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The Sand style suits the desert setting especially well.
