Village network
The town consists of several villages linked by roads. On the map, this creates a branching, web-like network rather than a single dense centre.

Igbo-Ukwu Map Poster & Print
Igbo-Ukwu lies in Anambra State in southeastern Nigeria, in the densely settled uplands of Igboland. It is known worldwide for an archaeological discovery: in 1938, a resident digging a cistern found bronze objects, and later excavations uncovered a collection of intricate cast bronzes dating to around the ninth century, among the oldest known bronze works in West Africa.
From above, Igbo-Ukwu looks quite different from a compact urban town. Like many settlements in the area, it is made up of villages and family compounds spread across the land, connected by a network of roads and paths. Houses sit among trees and farmland, and a denser commercial area gathers around the main road junctions.
An Igbo-Ukwu map poster shows this dispersed pattern. Roads branch out in every direction, linking the villages that make up the town, and the areas between them are filled with vegetation rather than blocks. The result is a fine, web-like network, a very different picture from a city grid and a direct reflection of how the community is organised.
