Colima is the capital of the small Mexican state of the same name, in a valley near the Pacific coast. The city has grown together with its neighbour, Villa de Álvarez, and the map shows one continuous urban area. At its centre is a regular colonial grid, with later neighbourhoods spreading outwards.
