Crevillente lies in the south of the province of Alicante, between Elche and Orihuela. It sits where the Sierra de Crevillente drops to the plain of the Vega Baja. From above, the town hugs the lower slopes. Streets climb toward the hills on the north side and flatten out to the south, then give way to irrigated fields, roads and eventually the lagoons of El Hondo.
The town is known for making rugs and carpets, an industry that grew into one of its defining activities. Its Semana Santa processions have been recognised for their significance to tourism. The municipality also includes part of El Hondo natural park, a wetland of reservoirs and marsh important for birdlife. From above it appears as a pattern of water basins.
