Fengkou lies in the south of Hubei, in the Honghu area of the Jianghan Plain, a low, flat region shaped by the Yangtze and its many lakes. The built-up area forms a compact cluster with streets following the canals and main roads, often at angles set by the waterways rather than a strict grid.
